Importance

Aids in raising the standards of fair tourism and raises awareness of the certified and/or awarded products/processes

Certification

The procedure by which a public or private body gives written assurance that the quality of a product and/or production process has been assessed and conforms to specified requirements (a product is “certified”).

Accreditation

The formal recognition given by an authoritative body that a certification body is competent to carry out tasks within its scope of work (a certification body is “accredited”).

Awards

Are given by governments, private organizations, etc. based on external review of an organisation or company’s skills.
