Intro

Mozambique is one of Africa’s up-and-coming hot-spots, with stunning beaches, excellent diving and magical offshore islands. It is renowned for its beautiful, unspoilt coastlines.

The country, however, also offers game viewing and the crystal clear Lake Niassa.  Whether you’d like an adventure holiday or just prefer to relax and get away from it all, it’s all waiting here for you in Mozambique-the land of smiles.

Weather

The climate in Mozambique differs from north to south – with the north experiencing higher temperatures and more humidity.  Average daytime coastal temperatures are between 24° and 27°C in the dry season, and up to 31°C in the rainy season. Inland temperatures in Mozambique are generally higher.

Language

The official language is Portuguese. Other Bantu languages and Swahili are also spoken.

Tourist Attractions

Islands and Beaches are mainly the greatest attractions of a Mozambique safari. Mozambique’s other popular national parks and attractions include the following:

  • Go rafting on the Zambezi River, Africa’s 4th longest river
  • Maputo Elephant Park
  • The remote Quirimbas Archipelago islands are true treasures, with their wealth of marine life and unspoilt beaches. You are guaranteed to find the PERFECT beach
  • In Maputo, the capital city, you are never far from the coast and visitors to the city can enjoy colonial architecture and the refreshing sea breeze
  • The Gorongosa National Park has a spectacular scenery and wildlife, including superb bird watching. The Green-headed Oriole is found in southern Africa only on Mount Gorongosa, and the Moustached Warbler has been sighted at Chitengo and on the mountain.
  • Lake Niassa: This vast lake which borders Tanzania and Malawi is one of the wildest places in Mozambique and is not for the fainthearted, however the rewards are great for those who persevere with the journey and here you will find beautiful, undeveloped countryside with the true feel of Africa.
  • Ilha de Moçambique: a fascinating place to visit with much to offer tourists interested in learning about the history and culture.
  • Ponto do Ouro: Just south of Maputo, Ponto do Ouro is an excellent spot for scuba diving.  The waters are alive with dolphins, manta ray and the occasional shark.
  • Popular amongst honeymooners and scuba diving enthusiasts, the Bazaruto Archipelago consists of a chain of pristine islands, each adorned with indigenous palms, casuarina trees, dune scrub and the whitest of white beaches.
